I use the Escort 8500 X50 and have it mounted on the rear window and plugged into the outlet beneath. It's a rear firing detector,so it works perfectly on the bottom portion of the rear window and is less visible that having it on the windshield. It has been continuously saving my butt.

I have a V1, but I don't have my car yet. Under the roll bar, to the right of the driver's seat back seems like the best place. The underside of the roll bar cover seems deep enough that it would not be noticed.
good point....I have been thinking about doing this. A bracket to mount the detector up against the cover at the top of the rear window would be the least visible. I,personally, don't need to even see the frequency readout....although it would be visible in the rear view mirror........ and hardwire the sucker in.

Actually,my previous post doesn't work. I just went out to try it and the windshield frame and rearview mirror block a straight line of sight to the detector. This will impair the lazar detector. Sorry...........back to the drawing board.
