Spacers should be fine when used correctly. Like someone else said, swap to forged studs and get the spacers custom machined to be hubcentric and wheel centric. I just did this and fit 15x8 and 17x9 wheels with 205 and 245 RE71R tires.
I am in the process of buying a third set of wheels for track use and am going 15's all around (currently have 17/16 & 16/15 wheels). Looking at doing a 15x8 with +25 offset on all fours with a 205/50 Front and 225/45 rear A7 tire. I have confirmed the rear is fine with a buddies wheel but could not do the front. Can you tell me what offset you run on your 15x8 front and if you use any spacers and what camber you run?

Thanks!
My fronts are 15x8 +36 949Racing 6UL wheels (11.6lbs! see link), which are mounted up on custom 8mm spacers. The front of my car has Sector111 V2 steering arms and -2.5deg camber. With 205/50/15 RE71R there is a ton of room left, at least static. You should be good with the hoosier in that size.

Interesting new wheel soon to be available from 949 Racing (6UL wheels) 15x8 + 0 offsets... This may be a good option for rear wheels for folks with rear wide body kits or fender flares.... (and do the 15x8 +36 offsets for the front)

Phil, What do you think about this wheel for my track wheels?

For the rear on a car like yours or mine with the carbon widebody rear, it's more like a 10" with zero would be ideal... I run a 949 15x10", +25, with a 1" spacer, which makes it a 10" +0....

I have 15"/16" Volk CE28Ns. Are 225/245 wide Hoosier A7s too wide? I have no problem with RA1s at that width, but i understand that Hoosiers run wide.

Looking for ride height suggestions for a square 15" set up. My tire diameters will be 22.8" front and 23" rear vs. stock which are 23.6" front and 24.9" rear so I think I can go lower then the 120/125mm suggested track set up because I am lowering with tire vs. adjusting suspension, any suggestions are appreciated.

Yeah you can go lower with those, 110/113-116 ish maintains the front geometry.

i tried a 15x8 rpf1 and it needed a small spacer. i also have a 15x8 +30 te37 that i have as well (with a spacer) but iirc it fit without the spacer

You will need (want) the steering rack raiser plates and the taller BWR front ball joints to maintain the OEM
geometry in the front. I have both and turn in is incredibly precise and immediate. I also have the Penske DA though
so stock suspension in any spec will be different.

I am thinking of going with two sets of tires. Bridgestone RE71R's for street on LSS wheels and tracks that are more than an hour away. Toyo R888R on 16x7 & 17x8 for the nearby tracks. They are pretty much the same sizes, so my alignment should work for both. The car is about 70% track for HPDE.

Questions:

For the rears, I can go with the 225/45/17, which are 25" in diameter (what I have now), or the 235/45/17 at 25.4" diameter. I know the taller tire will reduce acceleration a little bit but is it enough to make a difference?

For the front, my choices are a 23.2" diameter tire or a 24.1" tire (both 205/16). I have the 23.2" tire now and it sits so low that I have to be careful with any road bumps. Should I move to the 24.1" tire? I have Nitron shocks, so I can adjust the ride height.

If I go with the taller rear tire, should I also go with the taller front tire? The original tires for Lotus had a 1.3" variance in front/back tire sizes. Would the 23.2/25.4 be too big of a difference?
