BIG Project...Need Info, Have Questions,...anyone...?

ok so i talked to my local shop and good friend who worked on my Z and we came to the conclusion that the elise just wasnt fast enough for me. So, we started debating options as to how we can achieve the most power possible.

Here is what we came up with and why I would like some advice. We are planning on pulling the motor and installing the 2.4L motor from the Scion tC's and then fabricating a turbo and all the piping to make it work.

Will the 2.4L motor be able to be bolted right in or will i need to cut the trunk to make space? We are thinking about installing a water to air cooler instead of an intercooler, that way we can mount it in the front.

if the 2.4L won't fit. what are other options that you guys would like to see other then a K series. cuz thats been done before and i want to do something somewhat original.

any info or ideas would be great. my tuner Joe wants to pull 350whp out of this project. this will be an on going project for the next few months so stay tuned...

do it!!!! you'll be original and unique like that guy who put the TVs in his headrest :p

being the serious person i am, i have no idea if the scion motor will be a direct fit in. Do some research...i'm sure you can find info about that.

Also, werent you the one trying to selll the car because you couldnt pay for it?? I'm glad thats all resolved now and you can move forward and do what want to do.
For 350RWHP it seems an awful lot of work to change the motor, a turbo and a built 2zz will easily do that, add the W2A. Then you can save money for the tranny fixes, clutch and brake upgrades etc.

If you're looking do something unique then you're not going to find anyone who's done it already.

im not looking for tacky like that. im not trying to sound like im trying to do something unreasonable or impossible. just something "more" i guess...

my Z had greddy twin turbos and was putting down 650whp with meth injection and engine build. the power difference between my Z and my lotus is ridiculous. i just want to try to match that with my lighter lotus.

Best of luck with that. IMO the problem with attempting to match a high power Z and the elise is the short wheelbase of the elise (not to mention it's weak transmission). This is one of the reasons why I haven't pulled the trigger on an elise yet and have stuck with my G35 for the moment. I hope you end up proving me wrong, so I can finally opt into picking purchasing an elise.
...delete your boot and put in a 2GR-FSE...
You can get 350WHP out of the motor that's sitting in the engine bay right now.
wait. wat?

Did you get all of your financial issues sorted?
you could do what i did sell the elise, and get in to a nicely appointed 1987 ford pickup truck....

or do what your planning on...

damn got to feel for the headrest guy... references to him and the tvs will not die...

Watch a few of the ronin videos - fast enough for you ? Easier and more reliable than your engine swap and probably faster as well. Question - with all the new extra power you need to go faster, have you taken any high performance driving lessons or been to some training on the track? - asking for a reason, don't want to see yet another Elise lost in a crash this year .......

LOL...

well...long story short i need to sell my lotus.

but the background behind it is this...i traded in my 350Z for this car and added all the negative equity from it on top of my lotus. i now owe roughly 48k for an 06 elise. which is ridiculous yes i realize this.

anyways, what are some ways i can get out from underneath this. i heard take over payments mentioned by one person. i don't have any money to sell my lotus and then pay off the balance with cash. the car is financed by a credit institution.

im just trying to get out of this...because college is now kicking my ass and i owe a bunch of other bills i have racked up from the army and this 850 a month im paying on my lotus isnt working out for me.

i would appreciate no comments like...your a fcuking idiot...and so forth, i did it for my love of lotus and had the money at the time...but leaving the army and going to college apparently wasnt the best step financially for buying a lotus haha. so please any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'd try get get out from being upside down by modding the hell out of your car and making it worth even less...

No engine swap involved in either one.
If you are really REALLY serious then contact Frank at moremonkey.com and replicate his entire build from motor, to turbo, to intercooler with 4 radiators, new oil cooler, suspension, to custom made transmission. MaineLotus is doing the same thing so you will be car No.3 with a completely INSANE build.

Otherwise find the boys over the pond who have done successful Audi and Honda conversions...plenty of choices just depends on your pocketbook.

If you are really interested in being a first, why not do a dual charge setup and go supercharger and a huge turbo together? Completely unnecessary but sure to be a conversation starter :)
I guess someone already did the Hartley.. Wow!

Yes, the 2.4L motor will bolt right up to the existing mounts. Everything else, such as gearbox\drivetrain should bolt up nicely.
