I have a blown clutch on my 06 Exige that destroyed the bellhousing. I took the transmission out of the car but I am having a hard time separating the bellhousing from the main case. It seems to separate about of quarter of an inch but gets hung up and I don't want to pry it apart for fear of doing damage to the transmission.

Is there any magic to this or should the bellhousing separate from the main case with ease? The transmission seems perfectly fine as I can freely rotate the shaft and move the gears to any position. I think the only issue is the blown clutch and the case so that is the path I am going down.

Thanks in advance.

I wish I had seen this before. If you haven't fixed it yet, you need to remove the gear selector shaft so that the reverse shift fork can "let go" of an arm attached to the bell housing.

Good advice. Got it figured out.
