Well done, David. That's pure car porn right there.
Hey Dark,Nope - just talked to them - pearl is mixed into the basecoat... and they just shot "plain" clear coat over it early this morning...
Here's a first (closeup) shot of what the final color will look like.... (in slightly darker lighting)...
There's a whole bunch of stuff going on in there...
San with that black top hate. I feel like I'm obligated to give you a hard time about this now!The black top doesn't look good IMHO. Even if you had other black areas (not talking about the carbon "Bandit" rear clam area, which is awesome) it still looks like "patchwork". It's why I did my whole cockpit/hatch/top in black where it wasn't carbon fiber, to blend it against the other color (Storm Titanium). I'd post a pic but photobucket recently became a scummy company that won't allow me to post my own pictures where I please.
You must be happy to have her back in the garage. Have a good weekend.
It all depends on the lighting. This car is a rollercoaster is shading and color!San with that black top hate. I feel like I'm obligated to give you a hard time about this now! Chris
I won't know until I get up on the BOE scales but I'm guestimating:what's the weight of the car now?
Oh no no no. The way I understand it is that NOTHING will stick to the ceramic coating, including XPEL... so the XPEL goes on first.Looks Great! One question. Would it have been advantageous to have the car detailed and ceramic coating (sealer) done before the xpel install?
Are you going to look into installing a wing on it again, or leave the back end OEM?She's back home
I have a handful of little things to do, most importantly replacing/servicing my battery (which seems to have given up the ghost) and to find the cause of a REAL slow 0.7psi/day air leak from my driver side rear tire.
Enjoy the shiny pics - I'll have daytime ones soon!
The last picture is of a forum member who's car went across highway lanes into oncoming traffic and died a few years ago. IIRC, they thought the removable steering wheel came off. A Texan, IIRC. Tough to see this picture. The only wing I'd EVER put on her would be the original GUT wing - in CF of course... good luck finding that though...
I'd install it like @Dave did with his yellow below with NO base plate/hanger pieces... I'd also add CF reinforcement pieces underneath so the pressure on the clam wouldn't make it crack
Last picture side profile FTW
Oh no no no. NOTHING is stock with the exception of the wires that go to the stereo and speakers.I am really surprised to see you are still using the factory stereo and speakers. Getting rid of them and installing block off plates would shed a decent amount of weight for free.
I'm aware of that and he will most definitely be missed. I stumble along threads that he used to post in and it makes me quite sad. However, it does NOT change the fact that his car was absolutely gorgeous. The last picture is of a forum member who's car went across highway lanes into oncoming traffic and died a few years ago.
