HI All,
Know this has been posted before, but we've got lots of new people here.

For those interested in finding out about the development of the Elise the link below lists the major books presently available from Amazon. I have all three, the two book by Walton are the best with the coffee table book especially good on S2 develpment.

Yeah, it's not cheap but it's a beautiful book, I got a copy about 4-5 months ago. Very high quality, with development sketches and photos that you won't see anywhere else. I still haven't really read it through yet (so I can't tell you much about the text), I just bring it out once in awhile and browse through it. I figure I've still got lots of time to wait for the actual car, so it's something to keep the excitement/anticipation up.

I've got the Tipler book as well, but I haven't yet gone for the newest one (by Clements).

The same publishers of the book by Walton also have published a 2-book set similar in format and price, on Lotus cars and Lotus collectibles, respectively.

Who ever read the books! You guys should consider posting reviews on amazon.com

I'm thinking about buying the waltong book my self but 45$ for a book is harsh. Its once in a life time rare thing to see so its worth it. :)

YOu won't be disappointed by the Walton book, it's exc. got lots of good pics.

For good value, I'd probably lean toward the newest book which is by Alistair Clements. Lots of good detail and goes into more on development of the S2 Elise than the other books.
Chris

Personally, anyone interested in buying one of these cars could put any of the books to good use.

Yep,
The Walton book is by far my favorite of the Elise books. Surprisingly, though, the Clements has a lot of great information for a reasonable price.

Over on SELOC we have a realtionship with the publishers of the Walton book.

If there is sufficient interest we could probably broker a deal for a bulk buy discount for you. Postage will be the killer though hence I'd suggest shipping them across the pond to a single address & then issuing them from there.

If you're interested drop me a note with the amount you'd be interested in & I'll see what I can do.

Regards

I bought all throee books from Amazon and have received them, FANTASTIC! Lots of fun to read and great history on the Elise, interesting that a number of the original Elise staff do not like the new design. I think the original design looks dated and love the update.
Great books, thank for the recommendations.

Elise, The Official Story Continues by Walton

The publishers of Elise, The Official Story have done one of those disgusting marking ploys. They have released a second addition called Elise, The Official Story Continues.

The second edition contains additional information about the "Elise 2". A quick look shows they changed the cover picture and some of the pictures inside. The page count on the second edition remains the same for the first 12 chapters and then actually goes down(!) on chapter 13 and 14.

Places where there should have been obvious differences, such as "Family Explained" where they talk about the different models, have no additional information.

There is an addtional appendix, ten pages, that talks about the Federal and 11R Elises.

Certainly not worth the extra money unless you are as obsessed about the car as I am...

I agree with Michael - I got suckered into this ploy earlier this year... they actually removed lovely assembly line pictures in one of the appendices to make room for the 111R/Federal Elise section... which looks like it was haphazardly tacked on at the end.

If it wasn't for that removal I'd sell the first book - but being obsessed I'm keeping both... at the very least it looks cool on the bookshelf... kinda like Volume 1 and Volume 2...
