Does anyone here have any experience with using a Burns Stainless race muffler? I would like to get your feedback on the sound level.

Here's the one I'm looking at:

Thanks.

Turbo setup with Burns.
Looks nice! How loud is it? One of the tracks I frequent is starting to enforce a noise restriction and I want to stay within their requirements.
I haven't run the car yet. Another guy with an identical setup has and it's fairly quiet. But.. this is a Turbo, which quiets the exhaust a bit.
LOUD. If you are using 2.5" their largest can is still tiny, I was running that with long tube header, it was VERY loud.

Well then I guess I'm on to option 2 - Von Hep. I've got to be pretty close to 90 db.
I was running the vonhep prior to the Burns and the Burns was much louder....I think the Von Hep sounded better as well. Both setups are pretty loud though. I'm moving towards quieter exhausts now.

What other options are you considering?
I had an AreaP (makes the VonHepp) exhaust and that was fairly loud also, but MUCH quieter than the Arquay Single Tip it replaced. Mine had a 2.5" core, which is noisier than the 2.25" cores in the Von Hepp. The Arquay Single Tip has a terrible sound.

You may consider calling AreaP directly and talking with Kerry (the owner). He can custom fab a muffler to your specs - light and economical.
I have a Larini 8" going on it next. wont know how it sounds for a while though. I'd try the Von Hep, it was my favorite sounding.

I need to find a 90db muffler too for a single track. My 2bular setup hit 108db with the mic sitting upwind...
I loved my Von Hep (best sounding exhaust for the Lotus IMO) but I HIGHLY doubt that it was under 90 dB at WOT... it's much louder than my Larini is.

Regarding the Burns stuff... they make some of the best exhaust bits in the business. Can't really go wrong with them other than the loudness.

Have you seen the new Burns 2 Stage? Supposedly they are much quieter. I am looking into this.
I have an Arqray that sounds GREAT now, but only because I have headers and no cat. Strange, but the ones with a cat and manifolds sound AWFUL! My only motivation to change is to save +10 lbs by modifying my header and directing the muffler straight out back to save weight in the U bend.

I've just been wondering the same question. I'm needing 2 make a new exhaust 'n I wuz looking 2 pickup a Burns race muffler. Good 2 hear a clip of one prior 2 getting one. I have 2 say the sound isn't awsome but.. not bad.
only vid I have with it is in the car. YouTube - Autoclub Speedway Lotus Exige wind noise and blower noise make it not seem as loud as it really is. Driving with it on the street was not fun at all. I couldnt enjoy the car. I literally spent all my time looking for and worrying about cops. It was super light though and I'm keeping it for a track setup. absolutely no way it will work for a 90db track limit.

Considering that in most Lotus track vids you can't even hear the engine, I can imagine that the burns must be insanely loud. -eek-

Thanks for the vid and info - exactly what I needed.
I had a Coast Fabrication muffler on my Seven which look and sound just like the Burns mufflers. It was wicked light at under 3 pounds and wicked sounding but very loud. It now has a slightly larger 2bular cannister which added about 2 pounds but it sounds even better but much quieter. Probably lowered the sound level close to 10 db.
If you need to be near 90 DB you need a bigger can such as an 8x24" 2bular.
