Hi folks,

So I'm installing my micromirror the other night, and having read about people cracking their windshields, I'm being very careful. I got the stock mirror off without incident, and mounted the new mirror. Getting to the set screws is kind of a pain, and I guess I twisted the new mirror a little too hard, and *pop*, took a chunk out of the inside of my windshield.

Not happy.. :(

Anyway, I'm kind of embarrassed about the whole thing, but I'd rather ask for some advice than drive all the way to St. Louis. So does anyone in the KC area know of a place that can do a Lotus windshield locally?

BTW, the method I used to get the stock mirror off, which worked very well, was to thread a thin piece of rubber covered cable through the metal clip, and just pull on it gently while pushing the mirror down.

Thanks,

-Adam

Thanks Derek,

You wouldn't happen to have an email address for Ben would you? If so, would you PM it to me? I met him out at HPT, but didn't get his contact info.

Thanks,

No help here. but I know the feeling...I had to drive 12 hrs total to get my windshield.

Bummer man. If I can't get it fixed locally, at least it give me a reason for a road trip, I suppose.

How bad is it? From your description, it sounds like you just need it repaired which is something any windshield replacement company can do at minimal cost.
It's pretty bad, I'll get a picture tonight and post it. It's a little bigger than the mirror mount. I was completely shocked when it happened, I can't believe how little pressure it took. I hope you're right though, maybe it can be filled in.

Thanks,

-Adam
