There have been some discussions in various threads about when and how and how much concerning the 430 and when we can get the keys to them over here.

Lotus of Greenville (SC) is my closest dealer, where we got our Evora in 2011. I sent them an inquiry today and got this response:

Hi Dr. Harris,

I received your email about taking orders for new Lotus GT 430's. They haven't started shipping them yet to the US, but we are taking preorders at this time. We would need to know if you are wanting the Sport model or regular model along with a $5000 partial payment. Estimate price is 150-160k. They are estimating an arrival of next spring. Feel free to email, text, or call me at 864-373-3438 with any additional questions you may have. Hope to have some more info for you shortly

Gator only asked for $1K deposit last year, I hope they won't try to sell the car at above sticker when it arrives in the US.


The deposit is fully refundable and upon signed order and before submission we will ask for the balance of 10% down which the $1,000 can be applied at that time.

Once we have more information on pricing, I'll gladly forward to you along with any additional information.

Thank you for posting this. Lotus of Austin still has no confirmation on even if the 430s will be brought here but they, too, will take a deposit just in case.

150-160k seems awfully high. Perhaps foolishly I was anticipating 120-130, and even that seems like it is too high to sell very many.

Pricing

Is it April 1 again? Why not bump it to 450 hp, and raise the price to $225k?

They will absolutely sell 15-20 cars at this price - and then the discounting will start. A number of folks on this board have been talking about getting $100k 400s for $85k. Some claimed to get $90k Evora S's for $65-70. There are still Evora S's out there, brand new (if dealer websites are to be believed), so they couldn't sell 1,216 cars in 5 model years. There are plenty of '17 400's around, and model year '19 cars are already showing up from some manufacturers.

This isn't a hate rant, since I'm an owner too, but Lotus seems to always be a car or two behind the market - which is great for me, from a price standpoint, but you do have to wonder. And, really, how long until the 430 is replaced by the 440, or the 450, or Geely brings out a whole new car?

This isn't a hate rant, since I'm an owner too, but Lotus seems to always be a car or two behind the market -

I don't think they expected the 430 to be anything but a "special edition" kind of car where they only planned to sell 20 of them total. It's just a tech demo, the 400 is the only "mass-market" vehicle. For Lotus definitions of 'mass' anywards.

If you don't count the nine special "GP Edition" Evora 410 Sport models for 2017, my orange 410 Sport is one of only two that were imported to the U.S. Market for the 2017 model year. So, a total of 11 cars including the GP model. I still think it's extremely unlikely that Lotus can justify the cost and certification hurdles necessary to bring a tiny handful of 430 cars to this market. The GP editions were already in the $120-130 range, depending on options, so the list price on the 430 would be higher for sure.

If you read close enough, that car has a rebuilt title. For me, it is not about the purchase price of these cars, it is about the maintenance bill. I have heard that it is easy to have a 5 digit bill when picking these cars up.

I can attest to the maintenance costs as I had a relationship with an MP4-12C, that being said, it is literally twice the car as the Evora, and similarly all over the board in reliability. Some are bulletproof, and others are junk with no rhyme or reason. You can self maintain a McLaren just as easily if not better than the Evora as well. FYI, Mike Ward McLaren in Denver has brand new base 570s for $189k, don't get me wrong, I believe a $90k Evora 400 is a good value vs the 570 because it's less than half the car at less than half the price, but a $160k 430? Pass. It'd be the most disappointing $19k you'll ever save.

I have restored many Elise / Exige that have been given a salvage title, they are not bad cars and they get to live a happy "second" life. Insurance companies will easily declare a total loss, best example: S260 with small crack in clam, declared totaled, fixed easily!! The maintenance varies on all cars, some McLarens are extremely reliable and can be maintained by the user.

I understand everyone has different needs and wants, I personally would not mind that McLaren :D

They are different cars for different purposes. A stock GT430 is track ready and can be beaten all day on the track. A stock 570S, not so much - it a street car. Don’t go by marketing materials - cars that can actually be taken on the tracked and flogged all day are different than can that turn in a few quick laps by buff mags- alas most bench racers parrot the narrative by marketing. A more apt comparison is the GT430 at half the price of a 675LT for 90% of the fun + manual. This is the reason why R&T loves the evora so much and calls it the best track car at any price. Having said that, 150K is bit steep, I think the GT410 at low 100s will be amazing value.

I'd need to see data regarding their side by side track endurance, I'm not sure I buy that.

Cars like the 570S are for those who can’t row their own gears, or heel and toe. If I’m buying a high performance or track car I want to be doing the driving and not just flipping a paddle.
