Sorry for your loss. Hopefully the right one will come around soon.

There have been far too many totaled Loti lately, I'm afraid to drive mine now.

OK, I'm over it. I can't wait to drive mine.

sad to see it in that shape and being hauled away. I need to love mine and pay more attention to it. :D Good luck in your search.

Was it the front crash structure that was "tweaked" and classified as part of the frame?

I am surprised just because we have seen vehicles with far worse front end damage than that, but not totaled. And in my mind 10mph doesn't seem like enough to tweak our frames.

I do realize that the front bonnet is very fragile...but wondering what/how the frame was tweaked.

Bummer. When my prior Elise burned, I got a very nice fair market value for the mods.

Hopefully you can get the same.

BTW, please tell me you took the child out of the boot before the towtruck took the car away. :)

I always wonder if insurance companies just don't want to deal with sourcing parts, so they just claim "frame damage" as a way to push it through their system quickly, and get it out of their hair. They know it will bring a premium at auction.

I'm still waiting on mine. Henry at scc in Beverly hills told me there's a national back order of 3 to 7 months. But he called me yesterday saying it's on order now. I've been waiting for a lil over a month to get fixed.

If that's the case he was lucky, aren't clams on back order??
Yes, they are back ordered up to 8 weeks -eek- I'm currently several weeks in waiting for one...

Something seems off. You got 32k for a car with a salvaged title? And a 10mph bump totaled the car that already had a salvage title?

Geico does not look at the title. I was in a similar situation, but my adjuster decided to save the company a few bucks and fix it. The quote now is enough to total it, but they've already started work and it's been a nightmare.

What is that about? What would keep you from buying and wrecking salvaged cars for profit?

Insurance fraud? :facepalm

It'd be pretty risky because you'd have to damage the car bad enough to guarantee that it totals (which could be painful), and you'd have to have a car cheap enough to justify the insurance payments prior to the wreck and the increase in premiums after the wreck for the next few years. Problem there is that a lower quality car would also fetch a lower replacement price. Moral of the story: the insurance company always wins.
