I only get local (within 20 miles) FM reception. TADTS? Is there anything I can do to improve it?

The dealer is fixing the crossed wires for XM on Monday so I was wondering if anything could be done to improve FM while things are pulled apart?

unfortunately i think it's a common problem with these cars. I have a 2013 NA IPS and have the same issue. only local stations work well on FM. Beyond a 30 mile radius, reception is intermittent at best. Sirrius is fine if you're willing to spend the extra cash otherwise I use my phone in bluetooth mode for Pandora.

Good luck and let us know if you find a solution.

PS - I have the Stock Pioneer double-din head unit in mine

Only solution is to have you dealer install a third party active antenna. But even then reception won't be great.

re: FM reception

FM is not designed to travel long distances. It is a high frequency signal i.e. similar to light, so does not go around corners or Earth's curvature or bounce off the stratosphere (like short wave).

Better antennae would help. Since the body is fiberglass, if you could get a nice antenna/wire hidden under some body panel, it would improve. Active antenna is OK, it still needs signal.. Do not put antenna close to the ignition components or the alternator...
