He hits the nail on the head. If we don't
learn from cars like the élan, miata we're
going to be driving 600bhp/4000lb cars
that no one enjoys driving. It's about
emotion rather than numbers, that's what
I try to explain to people that ask, why a
Lotus? Some get it, but most do not. Frankly,
I'm glad that most don't get it as I'm happy
to be part of something so unique and
Very simple = the dude gets it! To me, it's the 'anti-American car' ethos. From the silly muscle cars of the late 60s to now - as Carl notes, it's all about horsepower and things like steering, suspension and god forbid, braking, are never mentioned.
Has anyone actually ever DRIVEN a vintage muscle car? My brother in law has a 442. Handles like a damn river barge and is the most uninteresting, unfulfilling, unresponsive automotive experience ever. AMAZINGLY overrated.
The video dude kinda reminds me of a non-English Chris Harris.
Excellent video. This is why I own both of those cars. My Miata is spectacular in its own ways, much the same as the Elise and I'm sure the Elan will be. I can't wait to drive my Elan for the first time, hopefully around a year from now!
