Hi Guys,

Posting this for a friend who does not have internet access.

He has been away with work for about 1 month, on arriving back to his Elise today the battery was flat. He added a new battery, and luckily the doors were open (was left in a locked garage) as soon as he opened the door the alarm went off, he tried to disable it with the key fob but had no luck. Because he can't turn the alarm off the car has immobilised itself so engine will not run.

He said the battery in the keyfob is brand new but still wont turn the alarm off, the LED does flash.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

Try the trunk

I have a "friend" who did the same thing, but had slightly different trouble.

It seemed to ignore the keyfob and the alarm would go off - the trouble was the trunk wasn't closed properly even though it seemed to be secured right down.

Same thing will happen if one of the front panels is not properly secured.

Did you try the 2nd remote or try to resync the 1st one.
Resync by taking battery out of remote and waiting 10 secs to re-install. Standing close to the car and press both buttons until remote's LED goes out, approx. 10 secs. Release both buttons and LED should then come on constant. Press large button for 1 sec, LED will flash, now complete.

Because unlocking of this car is dependent on the remote, (if it is locked with it) it really is advisable to have a 2nd one as a back-up.
Good luck,
Michael
