I'm having my friend make a CF Mohawk Scoop without roof panels for my personal use.

He'll be pulling and making molds so multiple units can be made, let me know if anyone is interested in having one.

Below is a photo to show what this may look like, the Mohawk scoop will be without the extra bit of CF shown on this Reverie CF scoop.

The Mustang is one of his past projects, he can make front and rear clams if anyone is interested.

Hi Danny, thanks for your interest; please PM your contact information.

The initial design is to make the Mohawk scoop only (finish line at the yellow triangles).

At the windshield, the CF will cover the unsightly rubber weather stripping atop, and wrap around downward with a 90-degree vertical portion and a nice radius to give the front support additional stiffness and look like a factory design and not a garage made afterthought.

The anchor point at the windshield will use the same round indent for the hard top pin (yellow arrow) because I don't want any holes drilled or the OEM parts modified.

On the B pillar/rollbar, a similar detail with a 90-degree radius will cover the weather strip atop, and the vertical flat portion will follow the contour of the bottom of the rollbar, the only fasteners (2 - one on each side) will use the same tapped holes (yellow arrow) for securing the hardtop hold down plastic part (removed when this H top is in place).

Of course, an obvious addition maybe a pair of movable hinged roof panels (similar to the "Gullwing" roof for the Elise) that will be removable; however, I may have the movable roof panels hinged at the leading windshield edge as to use the airflow to keep the "door panel" in the closed position while the car is in motion - and use magnetic strips at the trailing edge (B pillar) for the "latch".

As you can see this is a working design development process; thing will change as the design process progress - see picture below for clarification.

I really need a single skin full mohawk and rear hatch if your friend wants to get into that, optimized to light weight and cheap not pretty.

yeah, thought it would be a fun project, not CF but thought the Exige looked neekid without the scoop

The mounting hardware is the interesting bit. Molding a scoop is easy, well relatively

Have to machine the center clamp I have drawn up to also hold my rear view monitor

The problem with that is I need the rest of the roof in a motorsports version, I don't even really need the extra air flow. Roof weighs like 27 odd lbs and a single skin would be closer to 10 with the scoop, and taking weight off the roof is obviously desireable if you need to lose weight anyways which I do!

I'll check for you, do you need to use the stock roof hold down hardware?

I agree, topless and scoopless is not a good look for the Exige; and I won't use any female analogies in today's PC climate.

Originally, my idea was to use two bent Ti rod molded into the CF and use the front and rear OEM roof hold down assemblies.

Brilliant mind x 2? :wink2:

The other fun thing is it will fit in the trunk, so you can carry the soft top and swap if you run into weather

It's the color of my S260.

A canvas Mohawk on the soft top would be a real DIY project. :grin2:

Question for you guys, please PM me if you are interested.

Is there any interest if I make a CF top with openable roof panels (red line) hinged at the straight part (yellow dotted line) of the leading edge (windshield), with a slight (2cm) overlap along the scoop and the trailing edge utilizing flat magnet strips on these overlapped areas for closure, but the airflow will naturally keep the roof panels down at speed.

For those who are interested, here are some new photos of the initial mold taken from my OEM roof to make an FG buck, the buck will be modified to the final form and then used to make the mold for the finished CF roof.
