The light could be caused by a long, long list of things. Hook an OBD-II up to it and find out what the cause it.

It could just be the stabilizer he put in the tank. I know my car is very sensitive to any additives, as I learned after several months of putting "octane booster" in the tank (I know, I know, what a scam!!). After awhile, the car ran rough and threw codes every 4-5 trips. I stopped wasting my money on the "boosters" and added half a bottle of fuel system cleaner to flush everything out. The car settled down after a few fresh tanks, ran smoother, and hasn't thrown a code since.
