Besides being possibly one of the WORST things you can eat... it's surprisingly delicious.

My friend made up a batch after reading about it on the internet.

Apparently it's popular at the Minnesota State Fair.

Salty, sweet, crunchy, greasy.... yum!

I tell people this all the time. Chocolate goes with everything. Meat, bread (had chocolate covered french toast today), chicken nuggets, Chinese food, cereal....
Chocolate is even good 'straight up'. I had mudslide chocolate cookies today at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. YUM YUM

New restaurant in Los Angeles, on Fairfax north of Beverly Blvd. Called "Animal."

They make a "bacon and chocolate crisp bar" accompanied by a savory sauce - sweet, with just enough pepper to make it interesting...

...i can't really say i'm fond of bacon either...

...why am i reading this thread?..i guess it's like staring gape-mouthed at a particularly gruesome incident - is bacon ever smoked with anything other than applewood?..

Allen Brothers has GREAT steak-cut bacon......only 6-8 slices per pound. I like to cook it on the grill. Sometimes I cook one slice and put it on a steak or a burger.....let it sit on top while grilling.....sometimes I'll cook several and that's my whole meal. I like to dip it in applesauce too.

And, of course, it's apple-wood smoked.

Yeah, it's not cheap.....and if you look at their prices, nothing is cheap....but I've never had better food either. So far from AB I've tried their prime filet mignons, jumbo tiger shrimp, burgers, steak dogs and bacon. I have their prime sirloins in my freezer, but have not tried them yet... No regrets on anything I've tried so far.

$54 is for 3 pounds.....I guess only you can decide if it's worth it. To me it is....This is going to sound really weird, but I normaly use it more like a 'special-occasion' bacon, on top of a steak or something.....if I'm having pancakes or waffles, I have Schwan's bacon. I only had AB bacon as a meal the other day because it had been in my fridge a while and I needed to cook it. Maybe I should be the LotusTalk Official Bacon Critic.

Choco-bacon does not sound good but I might have to try it. How about chocolate covered bacon a la mode? ;)

If you mention that you heard about them (Allen Brothers) on Rush Limbaugh's show you get a break. They're a sponsor on his show! I guess you won't be patronizing them any time soon.rotfl
