On the first day of my 3-day session at the Lotus Driving Academy in Hethel, there was an amazing tour of Classic Team Lotus that is just down the drive from the factory.

With so many historically significant cars driven by some of the all-time F1 legends (plus various cars that come and go as they get serviced here for the private owners), it was an epic tour to see so many fantastic Lotus F1 cars in person.

Amongst many cars, there was the very first Lotus F1 racing car of all time, the 1961 Monaco GP winning car of Stirling Moss, the 1972 F1 World Championship winning car of Emerson Fittipaldi, the rain-soaked 1977 Fuji GP (the race immortalized at the end of the movie "Rush") winning car of Mario Andretti, plus cars of other stars like Jim Clark, Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet and the inimitable Aryton Senna. As a long-time F1 fan, it was extremely cool to be in the presence of so much history. 馃憤馃挴馃憤馃挴馃憤

Several CTL owned or maintained cars raced in the USA this year, fantastic opportunities to see them in action! Hopefully the trend will continue in the 2022 season.

pretty sure the museum just opened 1.5 years ago. Jim Clark museum has been around for almost 5 yr.
Not sure, but that might be right as the building did look pretty fresh and new. The Chapman family has been operating Classic Team Lotus for a number of years and looking after their family collection and the cars of private collectors, although maybe they did it in a different facility. Either way, I was really glad to have the opportunity to go and see their amazing collection! 馃憤

We were at Hethel in 2017 and they were still building/finishing the new building. The collection/shop was in the old garage which is to the right as you approach the new building. Did you get a chance to go through the old building/garage?

Oh okay, interesting to know. No, I saw some older buildings next to the new building, but there was no tour of those. I wonder if Lotus will keep them for historical purposes or knock them down eventually to use the space?

The Lotus 12 competed in both F1 and F2. Was a great F2 car, not so much an F1.

At LOG 12 in Manassas, Virginia the featured car was a Lotus 12 restored and maintained by Treasured Motorcars, then in Owings Mills, MD.
