Is the any point in removing the intercooler from a stock exige and flushing it clean
I imagine the is a film of oil in there which must be hard on the heat transfer
Any recommended methods?

If you don't have a catch can (and even if you do), you may have some blowby (oil) on the intercooler... also, if you have a mohawk roof, you might have this:

yep, might as well not even bother if you're not installing catch cans

6000km since catch can... no oil in the cooler that I can see after i removed the u-tubes

Didn't get a chance to empty the cans yet

FWIW, the Ferrari F1 forced induction engineer (from days gone by) says that the slight oil film will not markedly affect heat transfer.

You would benefit more from carefully vacuuming the bugs and junk out from the intake side of the intercooler (remove the rubber bellows for access).

That's the advice that I give to people who upgrade the the RLS intercooler, and that's what I do personally.
