Heh heh...that sucks! I can't help but feel kinda bad for the guy, especially since no one tried to help as his car sank over the course of almost 10 minutes (according to posts on that thread)! Sure, this could probably be classified as a bone-head maneuver and one he'll be mocked for for the rest of his life, but why just sit by and let the car sink?
So, how long do you think an Elise would float (windows down) before it finally succumbs to Neptune's watery grave? The VW Jetta, as an example, will float for at least 30 minutes (according to our salesman, at least!). My guess is that the Elise would do great IF Lotus has good seals on the doors. Its light weight will be an advantage, and even though it's slightly rear-heavy, the large trunk will help balance out the angle of the car.
