This Is The 2014 Corvette's Entire Nose

Anyone know what it costs to get one of these built, especially in comparison to fiberglass molds? I'm sure it ain't cheap, but it seems like it could lower manufacturing costs (per unit) by a lot when compared to fiberglass.

expensive molds like that cost a lot of money! You would have to manufacture many man thousands of parts to divest the costs enough.

Lotus uses much cheaper tools, and more manual labor, and spreads that cost over a few hundred parts...

I know years ago Isuzu wanted to make the Vehicross, but didn't know if they would sell many, so they didn't want to spend millions$$ on steel stamping dies for the body panels. So they ended up making ceramic dies, which were much cheaper, but could only be used to make 5000 parts.
