Hey everyone. I've been lurking on the forum for the last few months and following a test drive I have fallen in love with these cars. I am probably crazy but I'm just curious how many of you would/do use your lotus as a daily (excluding bad weather of course ;) ).

This thread pops up about once a week, I'd try searching threat titles for "daily" and look at some of the longer ones

This car doesn't make a great daily driver in my opinion but some do it. Definitely not an only car

I don't right now, but in a few month I probably will. I got to sell my 97 Miata First.

I use my exige on a daily basis. If I lived in California/Florida/Texas (someplace it doesn't snow) it would be my only car. I'm a bachelor and have zero reason to have more than one passenger at a time. Shopping isn't an issue either. The worst part is getting in and out, and even that's not a problem once you get the hang of it.

I am moving to where it doesn't snow :D and am considering purchasing an elise for a daily (and track days of course) and keeping my x5 for bad weather/shopping etc

My Elise is my beater :D and my H3 comes out in bad weather. I enjoy driving regardless of weather conditions but couldn't have just the elise in MD.

funny thing i dont consider my Exige to be my daily but i have put significant amount of miles on it, that to some people would seem like it was my daily

to this date i have no complaints, im in cali, worst weather i encountered was rain with bald A048, never will i do that again, most i can stay in the seats is 3hours at a time, before my bum starts to hurt lol

other than that its a freakin blast to drive anywhere

Daily driver, yes.

But test drive the car first!

You HAVE to love it for what it is, a super-cool little race car for the street that does not have the comfort of big brother Porsches, BMW's, etc.

If you love it, you'll drive it as often as you can.

GET IT?????????????????????????????

I wouldn't do it.

Rough roads really beat up on it, and I personally get very nervous in heavy traffic and during rush hour when people just aren't paying attention. Remember, this is a very small car and lower than just about anything on the road.

It's at its element at the track and on nearly-empty, smooth backroads on the weekend.

You can daily drive just about anything, but do you want to?

Personally, I have barely any fun driving it to work, even though my commute is through some tremendously good driving roads. Why? I get stuck behind slow drivers or trucks and never get to enjoy the car for what it is.

I drive a GTI to work which might be only half the fun, but is infinitely more comfortable, safe, and practical to commute with.

My Elise is my daily driver. 3+ years of commuting to work, going for groceries, etc. That and a bunch of autocrosses. People who don't daily drive their Elises are just wimps ;)

Full disclosure: my wife also has her Beetle for whenever both of us are going somewhere. (Or when the Lotus is in the shop and when I'm stuck for something to autox)

I dont have a lotus yet but will in the near future. I test drove an elise n exige on saturday and i think i want the exige. I will not use that car as my daily driver. I will take it out once awhile to work or watever but i wont use it daily. The car will be my toy for track and special occasions.

I use my M6 as my daily driver now.

I also have a 95 Ford Escort that I use sometimes, but I am lucky enough to be able to take light rail to work and have the monthly pass paid for 100% by work.

My Exige is my DD... I have a murano here just in case things are REALLY nasty and well... the exige will be stored once the end of sept hits here in Michigan.

but I have 0 issues with my exige being a DD.

I get AWESOME gas mileage every friday and sunday when I drive about two hours... I had head lights... has wipers for when it rains... yes I drive it in the rain even. I have AC when I dont want my back to look like a kiddy swimming pool. I have a radio for Mp3's or NPR. Its spirited when I want it to be... its comfy for me cuz im 5'7 and 120lbs.

My window keeps getting stuck and i have to screw a bolt down to get it to go all the way up (took it to autoeurope once but they didnt fix it)... I get a tiny rain drip on that same window when its CRAZY down pour...

other that that I have no issues with the car as a primary vehicle. I enjoy the looks... I enjoy talking about it... and I love just cruising around!
