So i finsihed throwing my dash back together last night. After bloody knuckle and sweat and french slang, i go to start her up and zap. The gauges didnt work when they key was on the "on position"

The car still started and worked properly but the fuel gauge, odometer, and the rpm and mph needles werent functioning.

I turned on the lights and the back lights to the gauges still illuminated.

Help:eek:

So i pulled the guage last night. Checked out the back of it.

One big plug and one small plug go to the back of it. Both look fine.

Where the heck is the fuse box in these cars>?

There are 3 fuse locations: Pax side 'hood' access panel, up under the dash toward the pax footwell, and the engine bay firewall. See pages 136-139 of your owner's manual...your page might differ slightly since you have an Exige. If you get stuck I'll be around this weekend if you want to drive up.

Thanks for the help dave.

The one under the dash. Is there only like 5 fuses down there or more. I have a navigation installed by a shop and i think i might not be able to see more down there because of the brain mounted under there.

chris with the red elise is coming down for weekend. Were going to try and figure it out. Your more than welcome to join us down here. Or if we really get stuck we might end up coming up:) Thanx for the help.

All fuses have been checked.

I also took a look at the back of the gauge.

2 plugs and the wires are tightly wrapped and tucked. im doubting i was able to pinch a wire. But im out of ideas. so im going to take the dash back out and look around.

Well so i took the dash back off.

I didnt unplug the main plug yet. But it looks just fine.

I wiggled the plugs on the back of the dash while the key was on. And nothing flickered or anything.

There was also an extra large green fuse with a clear cap over it. I checked it and it was good.

Like i said before the wires are tightly wrapped. I dont see how i could have pinched a wire somehow. My mechanic is coming by one of these next couple of nights to check it out.

But im clueless at this point.

sounds like you have an intermittent short - like the one I had in my alarm which left me stranded  and kept Lotus baffled for 3 weeks...

you will need to trace the wires, find the one that's melted, and replace it or cover it with a cloth sheath...

yeah i read your thread before.

I thought it sounded like yours too. But mines not blowing upon insertion like yours. It takes a few days.

Hopefully it doesnt leave me baffled for 3 weeks.
