these are holding the start button panel (bottom)in, and the pass side panel in. Unscrew and hinge up to release upper retaining clips, that is a metal strip along the bottom, reinforced for machine screws. Much ado about nothing i know, but i was wondering how atypical this is.

Not sure what you're asking exactly - do you need replacement ones or are you just asking if that's how all cars are? To answer both, no I don't have spares - and yes, that's exactly how my car is (and ever Elise I've ever worked on).

got confused - as a member told me they weren't in his car or others, just clips. Had nothing to compare against. thanks - i think we have established everyone has them.

i appreciate it. The lack of an available service manual is annoying at times.
