Since driveway approach angles are a concern for all of us, I thought I'd start this thread to share our experiences with this to give new owners an idea of what to expect.

My previous sports car was a 1991 MR2, lowered (~1"), and with a fibreglass front lip (Aeroware, for you MR2 folks). With this setup, I would consistently scrape, usually lightly, on the driveway at my house regardless of what angle I took. Most other driveways could be taken with no scraping (when a slow 45 degree approach strategy was used). The Elise is handling the same driveways much better than the MR2 did (no scraping).

This is great info, the choice is new driveway or new lip for my Exige

I agree as well. Coming from a 1999 Miata, I would scrape in certain cases with or without a front lip (had both configurations). I recently got a 2005 Elise and have been pleasantly surprised that I have not scraped it once yet! Still cautious as always, but it is extremely nice to have more clearance/better angle up front.

There are driveway curb ramp solutions that will help you transition from street to driveway that you might want to consider.
