My buddy picked up my Evora today and is having custom headers and down pipe designed for me, ceramic coated. This should be built and installed in two weeks. I'm a little bit stoked, I've been dying to replace these stock headers.

I'm going to have two o2 bungs remain, the other two, I'm going to have to delete because I have a test pipe.

After this is done, I am going to get my ECU tuned specifically for these mods (My current ECU Tune is for a stock NA Evora with no mods, just more aggressive than Sport mode that came with it from the factory)

A before/after dyno would be great so we could see exactly how much power the stock header cats are stealing. Of course that's easy for me to say since I'm not footing the bill or taking the car to the dyno :D

Excited to see how this turns out :up:

I must ask why! With three proven headers makes now available covering na's and S's, why reinvent the wheel on a limited R&D budget for a one off.

I agree, the system that Jim made at 2bular in my opinion is one of the nicest ones in the market right now. I honestly wish I went with his instead of supersprint due to bigger size downpipes he used for his system. I'm sure my supercharged setup could definitely take advantage of that.

I named the desired diameters, I sent his known header examples for our car any tube designs or diameter changes he makes will be custom, he tore down my car and put it all together (free) to get the specs he needed. The headers and down pipe will be ceramic coated, it wont have to ship from the UK, the install will cost $400 and will be installed same day and the cost of the header AND downpipe will be $1200-1,300 total. It all works out and now we have another potential vendor. Plus, I always like to say, "I had this all custom built for me", as well.

My headers and down pipe will be completed and installed next week. After that, retune.
Designing a header does not seem like a trivial task unless you have some significant understanding of acoustics.

What happens with the retune?
Do they tune the VVT part? (I am assuming that the VVT does the exhaust and not just the intake).
It seems that there could be many headers that would work good with the VVT as then the header is not so much designed for the engine, but the VVT-tune designed around the header.

By the way - What are they making the header out of?

I finally got around to getting these installed this past Saturday. It was purely my own laziness that prevented this. The sound is awesome and so is the performance gain. I love the backfires (I have a test pipe). Inside the car, it isnt terribly loud, but outside, it sure is noticeable!

I threw a CEL this morning, so I'll have that looked at this week. I'll also have pics, asap

what is the gain you're hoping to see from this? And what is considered typical for just a straight header swap w/tune? It seems 25-30rwhp is what most folks seem to expect from something like this. What was Ramtin's gain for the SuperSprint?

Waiting for a re-tune now that I've got all the bolt ons. I also need the TCU installed.

What dyno do I need? Dont we require a specific kind... one that makes the front wheels move as well?

Video is definitely coming! It sounds awesome with a drive by, but i'm not balsy enoughto run over a camera like Ramtin! LOL.

I honestly dont want to quote HP numbers, I more than likely would put my foot in my mouth. I want to see the dyno.

Most definitely, because the Evora engine came from the 4X4 Toyota truck in oder to get accurate reading you must use an AWD Dyno like the Accucheck. May I also suggest not strapping the car down as it creates unnecessary downforce may give you lower numbers and make sure to shoot some video, I'd like to see how you fair out, good luck!!

You do NOT need a Dyno that rolls the front wheels.
Just turn OFF the Traction Control, and turn on the Sport Mode.
It may take a few attempts to get the TC off, with SM on.

I have done it multiple times with no AWD Dyno. Strapping it down is safe - strapping it down so hard it cannot move is another thing.
