Using these LED's how do I hook them up for a 12 volt system?

http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/uv_specs.htm

They are going to be use for a license plate bracket light for a motorcycle. My friend has 6 of the LED's above but doesn't know how to hook it up properly. He was planning on only using 3 and keeping 3 as a back up.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can run three of them in series with a current limiting resistor.
Here's a link to an online calculator that you can use to calculate the series resistor that you need.

I came up with 82ohms...
Thanks for the calculator link... my Dad's always asking me to do this for the LED's on his model railroad... now I can just send him the link!

BTW, did you use 3.5V fwd voltage, 30mA current, and 13V for the 82ohm result?

It's flash YO!

No clue really. I guess my friend wants to have a rolling discotheque theme. He's young. That means I get to harass him for many years about it.

Hmmm... I wonder how many LED I would need to do that to Phil's car? That and curb feelers. OH! I could make a little KITT LED thing for the front of the car!

I'll have Curt tell me next time your car is in the shop... :D
