Awesome.. thanks for the links!!!!

I DESPISE sifting thru forums and trying to use pointless search functions that never work for me.

I should have known the search Nazis would show up, but thanks to those of you who posted links to threads you are aware of... very very helpful!
It's not so much that folks are search Nazi's... It's just that the question comes up an awful lot and everyone answers differently.

There's no real way to address the issue of a "Reliable Daily Driver" since there are so many differing opinions and points of view on the subject.

For example, if I am coming from a motorcycle, the Lotus is a Cadillac in comparison. If I am coming from a Cadillac, or a Mercedes, or BMW, or a Lexus, the Lotus may not be "up to snuff" for me. If I am coming from a Miata, or an MR2, the Lotus is just a mega huge improvement in all ways imaginable. If I'm coming from a Toyota Corolla and am expecting that everything is going to be cheap to work on and that parts will be cheap too, then I am going to be sorely mistaken when buying parts for my Lotus.

The Lotus is not just a car, it is an experience. I think it should be a prerequisite to test drive one of these marvelous machines before asking questions... I know that may sound terrible, but I think everyone would agree that the car speaks volumes to a person in the first drive. It did for me. I sold my car immediately and bought an Elise in 2 weeks.

And in all seriousness, you will need to sift through this forum because there is so much good information.

Good luck.

since you're a fellow biker, you will understand when I say that the car is quirky. not flawed, just quirky. they are hand made, like most bikes, and thus have "personalities".

I have had a lot of bikes and not one of them was ever perfect to ride right out of the box. I always had to tweak this or change that before it was ready for my liking.

the Lotus is similar in this respect, only there are very few flaws, and everything that you modify is actually to suit YOU.

ie. I think the stock stereo is pathetic. some don't. I was happy with a speaker upgrade. some want to do a sub/amp/headunit replacement.

my idea of fun was not working on a car - and then I got this car. I don't mind working on this one at all. it's like playing with a Lego set.

every bike needs small tweaks to make it your own. for me, the Lotus is very much the same in this respect.

go test drive one and you will know immediately.
