Hi,

Having own my Elise S1 (1998) for many years, I come to notice that there seems to be a cam blanking plate missing. I was looking around the engine bay after a recent C service and noticed it is missing - a silver patch and 2 screw holes :)

It is at the top of the engine next to the distributor. I can see the oil seal and the camshaft going round when the engine is running. I called the garage who did the C service but they said it was never fitted on the S1.

I am tempted to go and buy one from an MG parts place as it is a K1 engine after all but thought I will ask on the forum first in case it is really not needed.

It would be great if someone with an Elise S1 (non VVC) can hava a look and let me know whether there is a blanking plate covering the end of the cam next to the distributor. Many thanks.

Thanks for the advise Aedo. I have posted my question on the recommended site now. I didn't know S1 were not sold in US.
