So my 2006 Elise would run very rough and stall sometimes after sitting in rain or getting sprayed off (do it yourself car washes, but never at home after I wash it. I know, odd?). After about ten minutes it would run ok.
I dielectric greased as many electrical connections as I could. Car seemed fine, but this was a "sometimes" problem. Sprayed it off the other day and the stalling issue happened again.
Next day I decided to fix the problem once and for all. Started her up and grabbed a bottle of water. For some reason the vacuum switch that is mounted to the air box alway drew suspicion from me. Sure enough it was the first thing I poured water on and the car died. Unplugged the connection, dried the entire part, plugged it back in and this time just poured water on the switch and not the electronic plug. She died again.
Ordered that part from Toyota dealer and just installed it. No more stalling!!!
Guilty part:
