So my check engine light came on...but my obd II port doesn't work.

What the heck do I do? I've been told it could be the ECU. Anyone have a stock one laying around I can borrow to see what code I'm throwing. These problems are getting old

I've tested the port for voltage and all and it seems to be fine. Do you know any specific tests I can do?

Also, the previous owner had some issues with the port as well, and sort of told me it's more than likely the ECU. I'm not sure though. Would a bad ECU cause the OBD not to read?
