Changed my oil this past weekend and was surprised to see the shape the existing filter was in.

Both the TRD and the old one are exactly the same height but the TRD is larger around. It's the right part number according to the posts here but just wanted to be sure. I've never seen the original filter before and was wondering if mine looked normal. The way it is scrunched in the middle is a bit concerning.

Any thoughts besides it was time to change the oil? LOL

It went in with no problems. It's the exact height of the old one and it fit in the canister perfectly, better than the one I took out to be honest. I ordered crush washers for the drain plug from Amazon:
Amazon.com: Genuine Toyota - Oil Drain Plug Gaskets (QTY10) - 90430-12031: Automotive

There wasn't one on the car. I also had to order some bolts for the aluminum under tray on the car - mine was missing 3 of the 19.

The Blue base Oil Filter you removed is NOT anything I've seen for the 2GRFE Engine.
That may also explain why there was no oil plug sealing ring, and the missing bolts. The collapsing pleats is usually associated with the oil pressure crushing the pleats, from dirty clogging, or excessive oil pressure. That one looks VERY dirty.

The OEM filter is the GENUINE-TOYOTA-OIL-FILTERS-04152-YZZA1, and looks like this:
Genuine Toyota Oil Filters 04152 YZZA1 Case Qty 10 | eBay

The TRD #PTR43-00082 is the correct one, and is stronger with the metal end caps, and has a finer filtering element.
Good thing I changed it then. Thanks for the feedback - I was wondering WTF was up with it.
