I want to pull the Alpine Radio/Navigation unit out to add an Alpine KTP-445A amp, first step is to remove the radio bezel, Workshop manual says

"Removal: Starting at the lower edge, carefully prise the audio head unit bezel trim away from the fascia releasing it from its 4 mounting clips,"

I'm bending the lower front edge down quite a bit & pulling forward, but no movemen; Don't want to snap the damn thing! Am I bending it the wrong way? Are the instructions correct?

When you say "down," do you mean towards the floor? It should only be away from the dash, straight out, towards you. See also photos here. This happens to be prior generation car, but the principle is the same. See second link for additional information

and here you can see the holes where the clips fit; again, varies with model, but should give you an idea of what you're trying to achieve:

Yes, that's what I meant. Came out as you say pulling straight back, took a lot of force, maybe 30 Lbs! Here's a photo of said bezel removed to show the clips:

Many thanks for your reply!

p.s. The good news is there is plenty of room for the Amp & a bracket to zip tie it to.

Yes. See my own post in the second thread. Tons of room behind the dash. If you don't already have trim removal tools, I'd get those too. Don't know if you are replacing the door speakers. I did, and glad I did, but there was more room there too than I thought, and I could have gotten even more upgraded speakers as there is a bit more depth that it seemed reading some other posts. Having taken the panels out once before, and as you don't need to disconnect the lock cables (tip of the hat to docflaco), I might get around to it at some point.

Also, a good idea to spend the 10 bucks and get a interior trim removal kit off amazon or wherever... You'll definitely want to have it if you do anything beyond the fascia removal.

I have a set already... just couldn't figure out which way the bezel came off, glad I asked instead of just pulling harder / bending more = snap :-(

Dylan, stage 1 is the amp, which (i think) has given some improvement, stage 2 is to fit Alpine SPR-50 speakers plus sound deaden the doors.
