The manual indicates a 400lb weight limit. My son is 6'4" and 220lbs (lifts daily at a gym) and I'm 6'3" and 180lbs. I'm wondering what pushing the 400 limit could do. I know some vehicles provide a limit to avoid overload on suspension or frame componentry. Is the limit there to avoid performance/braking deficits or to prevent structural damage?

Thanks!

Not gonna break the car, just adversely affect the "dynamic balance". That is, don't push her so hard on the limit tracking out towards a curb or edge of the road, or push threshold braking as much. Tooling around town you're swell.

As stated, keep the G's down and no problem; in cornering and braking under high G forces loafing goes up tremendously on two wheels.
