A lonely Lotus Exige S is currently battling it out with 40 other cars in the 12hour race at Bathurst, Australia.

This is a long course with a long grinding hill up the mountain and a very fast straight down. Quite a challenge for one of our cars. It is of course in its element though the twisty bits at the top of the mountain.

4 hours to go and it is going well.

The 350Z is now out, so the Exige S is leading class B.

Yes, I know, there were only 2 starters in class B - but it is mixing it with some other serious racing machinery.

This is an endurance race and is the ultimate test of the Lotus.

So far, so good - am keeping my fingers crossed.

Mark has put a lot of effort into preparation and has a great team behind him - there were many doubters that the Lotus would last in this race.

I hope that he can prove them wrong.

:clap::clap:Any details on the car?
I am going to ask Mark to let you know what has been done to the car.

He is a bit busy right now, but as he is a 'dataman' and has a probe for everything I am sure that he will have plenty to report. I am particularly interested in IC in/out temps - along with 200 others.

This should be an obvious link:

Dean Evans in a Lotus going from last to first at Bathust, in one lap:

YouTube - Lotus Elise racing,How to overtake at Bathurst, Australia,

I recall it being mentioned he's racing against less experienced drivers, but it goes to show how much of a difference skill and knowledge of the course can make. Oh, and it shows us a Bathurst lap.

11.45 hours of torment and the Exige is still going - 181 laps– and just 15 mins. to go.

They got shunted by one of the family saloons early on, but that just seemed to make them go faster.

I would not like to see the oil temps at this point.

As their fastest lap wasn’t until lap 61, it does show that the timing didn’t get pulled due high IAT - up to that stage – which is a plus. Must be the SSC IC water sprayer.

Otherwise is standard motor- so I’m told.
