Escort Passport 9500ix. It's great! I just got back from a cross country trip in my 11 C63 AMG and it saved me a few times. I keep swapping it between the AMG and Elise...can't ever be too careful!

I guess the first thing you need to determine is whether you want dash-mount or installed. I really want a more professional install type and am trying to justfy the 9500 ci but like you mx, I have a hard time finding really good info.

Passports are close, but the V1 is the best in my opinion. I use the V1 in the Elise and Passports in the rest of my cars. Knowing where the radar is and seeing the arrows on the V1 have helped me recognize the threats on the Passports.

for the v1, does anyone have Concealed Display with Band Identification? if so is it worth it?

Personally I would probably be all over the V1 ... If it had smart technology. I even have an extra mirror for the concealed installation.

+1

The V1 gives direction and number of radar sources so you know yes, I passed the first speed trap but I have 2 more sources ahead. Also lets you know you have a source following you at a distance. Been using mine for close to 10 years and still love it. Once in NY I got hit by laser in the middle of nowhere on i90 while passing a minivan in my GTO. I backed off and set the cruise to about 2 over. The cop hit me and I assume the van twice more the V1 lighting up with the laser alert each time while he got a good speed reading on both of us. The minivan got pulled over and the V1 paid for itself again.

Currently have the STI-Driver and it has paid for itself several times :D Modified it to reroute display screen and controls to completely concealed areas so the unit is not on the dash.
There was actually a new release of the STI Magnum which is supposed to have 65% better range. Aparently the Escort Redline is a small amount better, but much more expensive.

Do a search. There is plenty of information about this exact subject out there.

I'm using an Escort Redline, great if you do a lot of highway driving, otherwise the 9500 series with GPS is great not to mention their integrated apps. The only advantage to the Valentine is the arrows.. not sure how much longer their patent on that will last.

Dude the V1 is old as hell, there is better stuff out there. just google and do your research.

My choice was the Beltronics rx65, it never gives false alarms and it gives plenty of warning. You just need to configure it properly (AKA no K band alarms or X)
