FS: 2005 Magnetic Blue Lotus Elise - $29K

Hi all,

So I think it's come time for me to sell my baby. I just don't get out enough any more!

Anyway, here are the particulars:

Basic Info:
- 2005 Lotus Elise
- Magnetic Blue
- 57,800 miles
- Location: Santa Clara, California

Modifications:
- SSR Comp wheels with Toyo Proxies R888 tires (semi-slick DOT approved)
- PES ECU Remap
- F5 Fujita Induction intake
- Larini SE Exhaust (Euro-style - looks awesome, with the OEM grills)
- Sector111 re-ENFORCER (solid transmission feel)
- Sector111 sys-6-pack (for 6-point harness)
- Sector111 Harness Bar
- Schroth Racing Harnesses (6-point, with FIA validity to December 2014)
- Optima yellow-top battery with custom bracket

Condition:
The car runs perfectly and is in great condition mechanically. While I generally do my own servicing (I have my own 4-post lift, etc). A few thousand miles ago the car was serviced fully by Dietsch Werks in San Jose, CA. They are Lotus specialists and they did a major service including coolant change and a full inspection. They were also the ones to install the re-ENFORCER and Schroth harnesses.

Cosmetically there are a few issues as follows:

1) There is a very small crack in the front clam where, I believe, a car with a tow hook reversed in to it. It's under the Star Shield covering, and you don't notice it until you come up close.
2) Right at the front of the car under the clam there are some cracks where low curbs have scraped at it. Looking at other threads this appears common!
3) There is some stone chipping on the drivers side near the front wheel.

That's about it. None of the above cosmetics are structural, or affect the car in any way. I have asked about getting all the cosmetic stuff fixed, and I've been quoted between $2K and $2.5K to fix everything from a fiberglass specialist that does a lot of sports car work (and that's here in Silicon Valley where everything is expensive!).

All that being said, I'm looking for around $29K. The modifications are easily more than the cosmetic repair costs, so I feel it's a fair price.

I will take pictures and add them to this thread, but feel free to ask questions!!

Thanks!

Some pics..

Here are some pics I had on my computer... I will get more, especially of the cosmetic issues later (these pics have the cosmetics, but as you can see, it's impossible to see from a distance):

Thanks!

Would you be willing to trade your wheels for a mint set of 16"/17" rota torques matte black with brand new tires? I'm in sf and i can bring the wheels down, I'd add some cash on top

Hi,

Thanks for replying, although I don't really want to separate the wheels from the car right now, especially since they have the R888 rubber on them.. I think the SSR's look great on it, as would any potential buyer I think!

Thanks!

GLWS. Haven't seen this car in years. :UK::shift:

I've been eyeballing a 997 at work, but an Elise has been on the radar for a little bit too.

Thanks all :)

Here are the pictures I promised! I'm afraid there is no hardtop (I made a mistake and sold it a couple years ago because I was never using it, but in hindsight should have kept it).

I have even included a pic of a dyno run I did earlier this year that shows a strong 176.91 WHP and 132.10 ft-lbs torque (stock I see between 160 and 170whp and about 122 ft-lbs). This car also has the lower switchover so it switches cams sooner. The intake and exhaust sound amazing at WOT after the switchover... It can get addictive :)

Exterior:

Interior:

Engine:

And here are the cosmetic issues. These are extreme closeups, and it doesn't look anywhere near as bad from normal distances. As I said, a fiberglass specialist said it's no problem to repair all these items. I would repair it before selling it, but it would push the price up a little, so it could be a saving for you if you don't care!

The above is the damage on the top of the clam, near the indicator light. As you can see, it's just like a crease under the starshield. From a distance it's virtually invisible unless you really know its there.

These are the the stone chips on the drivers side. Probably the cheapest item to fix if you wanted to.

This is where the lip on the passenger side rubbed against stupid steep driveways (I have one I have to regularly go over when I take her out, unfortunately!)

This is where the lip on the drivers side - same thing as above.

Please feel free to comment, ask for other more specific pics, etc.

If you'd like to make an offer, please PM me! I can also provide the CARFAX for piece of mind.

Thanks!

Oh, and another thing... This car has passed CA smog multiple times without any issues on these mods, in case you are worried that the mods will fail CA smog.

Thanks!

Bump...

This is a clean title car, no accidents, runs perfect, and the only issues are the cosmetic items mentioned.

Open to reasonable offers too!

Thanks!

Do you have a shot of your car from the front or the side to see how visible the damaged spots are from say, 10ft? Very interested.

Hi all,

I now need to sell quickly so your gain - price has been lowered to $27K. That price difference will essentially pay for the cosmetic work to get the car looking as-new. Again, this is a CLEAN TITLE, not salvage or accident repaired or anything.

I paid for the Carfax, and here is a snapshot of the report. The car has only done an average of 6890 miles a year, and between 2011 and 2013 I only put 4000 miles on! While there has been three owners, I've owned this car for over 6 years now - and I've never had an issue.

Let me know if there are any questions!

Thanks!

Oh, I forgot to add... If someone who is far away is interested and would need it shipped, I'm also happy to have Dietsch Werks do a pre-sale inspection. They know Elise's inside and out so could provide an additional piece of mind. Of course, this would have to be at your cost (in case you don't buy!) :)

Thanks!

I sure miss this car, good to see you got good use out of it!

A few cool details from my ownership that I didn't see listed:
This is an early '05 with the dual oil coolers.
With the intake and exhaust it sounds really exotic when the second cam comes on!
Powdercoated black fuel door.
Stock exhaust hole sealed and entire diffuser powdercoated black.
I had installed a bazooka mounting strap to hold the rolled up soft top in the trunk using the stock bolt locations, not sure if still there now.
Had a rare b&m short shifter when I sold it, not sure if it still there now.

Hey twinturba!

Yep, the short shifter is actually still on the car.. The mounting strap is still there too. The car has run perfect since I bought it from you - no issues whatsoever!

Thanks for commenting... It's been a great 6 years with it!

I've started to track my 500HP Evo now, so the Lotus doesn't get as much use any more... The Evo soundtrack is nowhere near as nice as the Lotus though... This car sounds amazing at wide open throttle!

I'm thinking the cosmetic damage may be too much for people... I may have to have the car brought to pristine condition before selling it...

Thanks!
