Question, I have seen a few exige s cars start up from cold and stutter at start / shot out an oily residue out the exhaust. Is that because of blow by? And would catch cans help that?

Maybe. Catch cans keep oil out of the intercooler. Oil in the intercooler coats the surfaces and hurts the heat transfer.
