My kids love getting driven places in the Lotus... its fun for them, and gratifying to see the next generation of car loving people grow up with dreams of their own. The "Go faster, Daddy!" made me think of a story about my son...
I had a '95 Camaro Z28 and my son was 4yrs old... beautiful day, T-tops were off, had him in his "racing seat", and obliged him with a solid, fast launch from a traffic light. No wheel-spin, just ran it hard up to [speed limit +10] and backed off... and a state trooper lights us up a 1/4 mile down the road. So we pull over, he explains that he had to pull me over because I am loud and took off fast, though he noted I didn't go excessively fast... So he asks my son, "Do you like Daddys car?" - He nods. "Do you like how loud it sounds?" - More nodding, starts to smile... "Does Daddy like to drive it fast?" - Son finally speaks: "Yeah!!" The cop starts laughing, I'm just shaking my head, and my son thinks this is all great fun... He goes back to his car, runs my info and comes back with a Jr. State Trooper sticker for my son, and a friendly suggestion to slow down for me. Sometimes "Go faster, Daddy!" can get you in a wee bit of trouble...
