Alright, you SCNAX members out there. Let's hear it! This has nothing at all to do with autocrossing, so put your two cents' worth in.

What is the funniest movie ever? Dumbest? Most touching? Farthest out? Worst?

Funniest - Anything early Mel Brooks, specifically "Spaceballs". Around this house we quote that one more than any other. "Blazing Saddles" is right up there, along with "The Producers". Honorable mention to "Hellzapoppin".

Dumbest - Anything with Adam Sandler or Chris Farley.

Most Touching - I'll take the 5th Amendment on this one . . . you never know who is watching. But Old Yeller had it coming! (eyes darting right to left and back)

Farthest out - (don't have one for this catagory)

Worst - Gotta agree with the critics: "Plan 9 From Outer Space".

Funniest = Anything with Jim Carey, Adam Sadler or Chris Tucker

Dumbest = Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (but still very funny)

Most Touching = the most touching is probably a porno...oh wait, you meant emotionally....uhhh can't think of one....

Fartherest out = Natural Born Killers (one of my favs)

Worst = Super Troopers

Hmmm...

Least Forgettable:

Usual Suspects
Matrix
Alien/Aliens

Funniest:

History of the World Part 1
Original SNL Cast stuff, Stripes/Caddyshack/Animal House/etc.
Cheech and Chong: All except "the corsican brothers"

My Opinion Has Changed the Most:

Fast Times at Ridgemont High. (I remember thinking that this was the *coolest* movie when I was a teenager...now it seems more like a terribly sad commentary on what it's like to be a kid)

Best movie ever : The Matrix. I keep upgrading my sound system to make that movie sound better. It now sounds better in my house than it did in any of the 4 theaters I saw it in. Oh and I also had 3 pirated versions of the movie within 2 days of it coming out.

Funniest: Big Daddy, Blazing Saddles, American Pie, Super Troopers!

Most touching: Any movie having to do with dogs, Days of Thunder, Top Gun, Saving Private Ryan, and Good Will Hunting, The Cuting Edge (can you guess the theme here?)

Then Favorites (which already includes all of the above)
All Lethal Weapons
Fast and the Furious
Star Wars I, II, IV, V, VI
Usual Suspects
Mission Impossible, MI2
Most but not all James Bond
5th Element
The Shawshank Redemption
Usual Suspects
American Beauty
The Princess Bride
Full Metal Jacket
Three Amigos
Forest Gump
The Right Stuff
Die Hard (including 2, and with a Vengeance)

OK, here goes ....

Funniest: Clerks, Young Frankenstein, Office Space, The Bicycle Thief

Worst [that I've seen that wasn't on MST3K] Tommy, and I'm a fairly big Who fan. But I hate musicals, so there you go.

Most sentimental w/o making me ill: Casablanca, Shawshank Redemption, Night and Fog [documentary about the Holocaust], Schindler's List

Weirdest: Barton Fink

Most disturbing: Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer

Faves, in no particular order:

Blood Simple
After Dark, My Sweet
The Matrix
The Seventh Seal
Raiders of the Lost Arc
Allegro Non Troppo [animated]
Usual Suspects
Pulp Fiction
L.A. Confidential
Chinatown
Aliens
Being John Malkovich
American Grafitti
Saving Private Ryan
The Thin Red Line
Blackhawk Down
Deer Hunter
Rear Window
2001: A Space Odyssey
Pulp Fiction
Star Wars
Jaws
The Godfather
North by Northwest
Vertigo
Bladerunner [no narration]
Goodfellas
Unforgiven
Bad Day at Black Rock
Papillion
Saturday Night, Sunday Morning [British]

... and a bunch more I can't recall right now. :)

I notice that the film version of my Bar Mitsvah has made very few of your lists. I am really hurt. Of course it didn't get very wide distribution and the trailer was as long (or as short) as the movie itself.

Glad to see replies to my question. It gives me a little insight into what kind of people I "see" each day on the board.
Keep 'em coming.
And thanks!

Cary I just heard that it had horrible reviews.
Well my voice was still changing, my grandfather (a Rabbi) was standing right behind me, I was nervous as all hell.......yeah I can see where the reviews were less than favorable.

I usually only go for comedies. My favorites tend have Chevy Chase, Bill Murray or Robin Williams in them.

Caddy Shack, All National Lampoons Vacations, Ghostbusters, King Pin (at times), Hello Vietnam, Cadillaic man, The Bird Cage, Mrs Doubtfire. And the ultimate movie: The Three Amigos!

My action flick choices usually have comedy in them as well

Rush Hour, Independance day, MIB, The Rock, Pulp Fiction.

More movies that it seems only I enjoyed.

Momento, Casino, Heat, Go, The Majestic

Movies that only I seem to think suck

Dumb and Dumber, The Others, Eyes wide shut (dispite all the nudity), Very Bad Things, AI

More recently I just saw Friday. Ice T and Chris Tucker rule. I also just saw Insomnia, an okay movie, but Al Pachino made me tired just looking at him.

It is not that I didn't like Memento, it is that I never saw Memento!

I guess that I should though. It seems like a lot of people thought that it was a good one.

Worst movie : Driven!!!!! Now that was one huge budget P.O.S.!!!

I heard it was coming out this spring as a Director's Cut Special Edition. With commentary by the Rabbi and your mom. And deleted scenes. Specially that scene of self exploration that was pulled in order to maintain the R rating. On the bonus disc of course.

Gunnar, get Memento on DVD.

Hello Vietnam?

Don't you mean Good Morning Vietnam ;)

Not that Ice-T doesn't rule, but it was Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. Ya i know, too many ICE's in the rap game....but atleast you could never confuse them with Vanilla Ice :D
