OK guys - starlight black over cognac 2013 Evora IPS.

I want to protect it from door dings and pebbles and all that. I know someone with a dipped 'Yota that's pristine after three winters in Montreal. Perfect protection, and I'm totally sold on it.

So, should I go with military green and black wheels, or frost the current black and make the wheels copper? Any ideas?

If you are going military colors... then only the Spitfire livery will do. You need the colors, targets on the doors, tail flags, wing mounted guns, all of it. Well, the guns might be a bit much.

I always thought this would look cool on an Elise. Not mine, but would love to see it on someone else's.

Check out threads featuring Costly Dakota's Exige - he did a vinyl wrap with military green and black and it looked awesome.

A few notes on PDip:

- Pearlizer over white would look awesome - think Lambo Balloon White. Anthracite would also look great.

- Play around on the Dip Your Car forums - lots of info there.

- SPRAY IT. Either have someone do it for you or buy a gun (DipYourCar sells one). I just did a couple of parts for my interior (the LotusShii glove box) and had to match it to my '08 'sensusoft' interior. I custom mixed a deep charcoal grey and thinned it 50/50 with Naptha. Sprayed it through a $5 Preval Spray unit and it looks fantastic. NIGHT AND DAY finer finish than out of the rattle can.

BTW - you say 'military' green.

Does Canada even have a military? Do they use guns or hockey sticks? :)

Hmm... don't believe things went too well for the USA the last time they invaded Canada. And we all know how Olympic hockey ended (men's and women's). :D
wait... there is a difference between Canadian men and women hockey players?

Oops... Touched a nerve with the hockey, eh? Don't worry, given enough time and practice, it's possible that your men can play the game as well as your women do. -poke-

The 'invasion' thing was a billion years ago...and I love that Canada hangs on the hockey thing. Couldn't imagine the outcome if they played each other in a sport that Americans actually cared about! :)

I jest because the Swinglo household is a huge hockey house. :)

I do enjoy many things that Cannuckistan has offered the world.

- Quebec City (particularly Aux Anciens Canadiens restaurant)
- Jonathon Toews
- The Tragically Hip, Rush, Spirit of the West, Gordon Lightfoot and Blue Rodeo
- Evangeline Lilly and Lexa Doig
- Poutine (only when hungover)

But dislike many other things Canadian:

- Silly accents
- Nickelback, Justin Bieber and Avril Lavigne
- Trying to call a slice of ham 'bacon' - 'back bacon'
- Barry Melrose
- Calliou

Cmon man, you know damn well that American men would dominate the sport - if they cared about it. :)

Just as they dominate every other sport. Problem is that, while hockey is the thing that the average Canadian thinks about 23.3 hours of every day, it's effectively the 4th rated sport in the US (which actually I dislike - it's a much better game than basketball and baseball).

Oh, and you actually typed 'eh?' in a post in which we are having some fun Canada bashing? Quick, say abouwwwt, PRO-ject, OttoWAA and aGAINst. :)

Oh, and as far as men's hockey, this is who won the Conn Smythe. He's not from Canada (although Corey Crawford, who is from that weird place in Canada that thinks they are French, should have won it):

I voted Green. I was just looking into this yesterday to do in lieu of paint on another car I have with totally shot paint.

Turns out in California, you can't buy this stuff by the gallon. If your dip-job turns out nicely I might be hitting up someone on here to be a shipping intermediary for me!

Re: California. Check the DipYourCar site.

I'm pretty sure they ship to CA. I'd also imagine that many CA guys are on that site (PlastiDip has a huge presence in the tuner/put a black hood on my car crowd) and obviously California has a huge tuner/bro-car culture.

But spraying from gallons is CRITICAL. Obviously on a job this size, but also for the quality of the finished product.

Out of the 2 options, I would go black/copper.
Practice on your Evora and then I'll bring you my Elise to do :p

I'm not entirely sold on the product yet.
What I've seen on small parts or trim, is usually pretty nice.
But when it comes to a full car, I've seen well done to ****ty.
My biggest concern would be damaging the clearcoat when removing the layer of plasti dip after a long time.
