Got the call!!

Got the call from Park Place in Washington to confirm my order as they received a request to put in the next batch.

I'm more than excited.....I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

This was my first call from the dealer after having a deposit down since Nov. 2002. Got the call from Dave Duncan.

As a customer, I really appreciated the call and I hope David doesn't get upset for me posting my excitement.

FYI....#40 on their list, expecting car sometime in May 05.

Now, if we could just convince the factory to paint all the chrome orange cars before Christmas!

Just got back from there myself - they have delivered two customer cars so far - one LRG and a silver with blue interior that was in for its first check up. The blue leather looked really good with silver.

I ordered krypton green, sports package, no touring, hardtop, starshield.
I would wish you luck with the Krypton, but can't really talk since I'm going with Chrome Orange, Tour, Hardtop. Haven't seen Krypton in person, but so far no color looks bad.

Now I have to decide.....ship the car out to NoVa or drive it out with a pit stop in Chicago for the 1K check-up. At least I have 8 months to decide.
they have delivered only 2 cars so far???...that is the lowest allocation I have heard of so far...very glad I didnt go through them...would prob see it by 07'...:)...but Im happy for you guys...light at end of long tunnel....btw, why would they take order already if the car is expected in 5/05???
Smura is just guessing on his date. May is really our worse case scenario. Park Place got their allocation for the rest of this year. October - 5 cars
November 7 cars
December 7 cars - build date, not deliveries, so 19 cars delivered by January.

So if allocations for them stay on 7 a month we are figuring April/May for our 39th and 40th cars.

Could be sooner for some of us. Dave Duncan told me today that someone who is further down the list (I didn't get the number, but in the first order batch, so top 20) has a car coming in already before a bunch of others. Color batching or something...

Not sure why they take the orders so early - Lotus wants them though. When did you first batch guys put in your orders, March I believe? And most haven't gotten their cars yet...

Isn't their some dealers that haven't gotten any cars yet?
What's 1,000 miles from Seattle?

Chicago is over 2000 miles from Seattle. Salt Lake City might be a better choice, at 850 miles.
1st orders were taken in mid January if I recall correctly. That was back in the optimistic days when Park Place thought they might have the first cars in late April.

I thought I might have jumped up a few spots, but if 2 have been delivered and 5 are coming in Oct., then I didn't by much, if at all. (Unless most of the 5 are Bordeaux Pearl Red. I think in the 1st 9, 2 or 3 were Bordeaux, and it seemed like the October deliveries had were mostly Bordeaux. Then someone farther down the list could have jumped up.)

I was surprised so many of the 1st 9 PP purchasers chose Bordeaux. It seems like a far higher proportion than the people represented here on Elisetalk.

Happy you finally got your call, but what a wait! You live in VA, and in 2002 you put a deposit in Seattle, to be #40 on the list?!?

Seems like you could have done alot better with a dealer closer to home, or probably with any dealer between.
I just moved to NoVA. Lived in Washington my whole life, so I did go with my local dealer at the time. Had the opportunity to be in the top 5 at either Salt Lake or Scottsdale because they were not taking deposits until beg. of 2003, but I figured lotus would fill orders in the order of deposits.

PP got a low allocation.......but there was no way to know this would happen 2 years ago.

I'm just glad my order is back with the factory.
Hi Steve,

No problem from me for you sharing your excitement. I only wish more people would have bought those two 2002 Esprits I inherited when I was handed Park Place back in Jan 2003. We lost our hind quarters selling those cars to get a better allocation of Elises. We even took a header on the 2004 we had to help our status with LOA.

I hope you guys understand a months allocation only means you SHOULD expect to get that many cars BUILT in that month. Not delivered to you.

Lotus UK is batching colors. It makes for better use of time.

Also, LUK wants to know what the expected production will look like for the next 6+ months. That is why they want cars spec'd so early. ( remember the sport pack fiasco?)

I will keep you posted as things clear up.

Thanks Dave for all your help,

I did have a deposit at Tonkin in Portland but pulled it a few months back. Lotus wanted them to take 1 Esprit but Ron refused. The salesman I was working with tried to explain to him that they would more than make up for the hit they would take on one Esprit with sales of the Elise but it must have been a ego thing or something. Their loss.

In hindsight I am so glad I stayed with Park Place - I had a contract in the top ten there so you can see why I made a second deposit. There are so many dealerships playing games and the allocations are so messed up that I figured I would give myself another oppurtunity to get a car sooner. I am glad I stayed. I want to say thanks to David Bruski, Jared Lowell and you when I may have been a pain in the ass. Thanks again!
Yep, I'm glad I stayed with PP too. Would rather get a car in the spring than this winter.

I also understand a May build date means a June or July delivery date. That just means I'll have better weather to drive across the country!
Congrats Don Smura! :D

Ever experience July in Virginia?
Yea, I've been out here since March. This summer wasn't that bad, although I've heard it was relatively mild this summer.

That's why I got the hard top!
