I'll admit it -- I'm an ebay addict. But part of the reason I love it so much is seeing all the junk people list. And we're seeing plenty of it for the Elise.

Apparently, in the UK, you can buy and sell personalized plates, and there's a healthy market for the best ones. Look how much this guy is asking for this personalized plate, which he calls "the very best for your Lotus Elise". The "very best"??? "E1LSE"???

Or how about this carbon-fibre "effect", which will give your Elise a "more sporty appearance"? I don't know about you, but anything that makes a sports car more "sporty" is probably not a good thing!

I saw a 10 minute (waste of time) clip on 5th gear that talked all about the fad of custom plates in Europe. They actually had people like brokers buying and selling plates. I can't believe how much they go for!

to explain a bit, at least in the UK theres no such thing as a true vanity plate. You can however buy a plate that fits into the format of the plates, and once that plate is created it can be transfered from car to car for a fee to the DMV.

Up until about 5 years ago the format was X 111 XXX (letter, then up to 3 numbers then 3 letters)

So the very best plates for an elise are E 1 LSE or L O TUS

Im holding out for some gold fender well trim. Im gonna slam it, put some 13's that stick out real far and pull all that silly aluminum stuff from underneath and kick it with some sweet red neon to go with my interior. NOPI here I come! My only regret so far is that I didn't get Aztec Bronze!
