Hardtop price?

Any posts I've seen here say the hardtop will be about $1500.
My dealer said about $500.

Any good guesses which will be correct?
I have to say I wouldn't be too psyched paying more than $500 for a rectangular piece of metal.....

I heard about $1500 too. But my neighbor has a Vette and has the plexiglass top blew off (anybody want to buy a really scratched up one cheap?) and he said the dealer wanted about $1000 for it, but he was able to find a used one for $600.

I cant see paying $1500 for a metal top and I the canvass one will do just fine for me. Wait a while and some aftermarket companies will make ones that are transparent or maybe we can get a group buy on the T tops from Tigga.

That's why it's fiberglass:D

But seriously I don't think $1500 is unreasonable, and I severely doubt it will only be $500, if it were I would get it even though I really don't want it. I also think finding one of the T-roofs for around that price will be tough also.

Fiberglass. About 6 square feet of fiberglass. Shouldn't be too expensive at all.
Current Lotus hardtop for the Euro Elise retails at EUR 2429 excluding taxes (that's about $ 2900). So you US lot would get a sweet deal at $ 1500!
Hmmm, Hardtop or touring package.( Adds additional insulation to the soft top, Full carpeting floor, full leather Seats, Cargo net, Upgraded CD/MP3 player) Decisions, decisions.
I for one wont be getting the factory hardtop, the fact that it does NOT fit in the trunk is far more a detractor than it's steep price tag. Specially in light of the reported ease of operation of the current targa top. I'd rather save my money for an after market 3 piece roof down the line.
There are aftermarket tops available for the Euro versions. I have received an email from the company, Middlemoor Mouldings www.elisehardtops.co.uk , that their tops will fit the US version. Distributorships are being worked out. The gullwing top, which may be a must for guys who find it difficult to get in and out of the Elise with the top on, weighs 12 kg and will cost 1300 UKP. The standard top will weigh 8 kg and set you back about 995 UKP.

That's hilarious. The gullwing top somehow reminds me of a beanie-hat...

I still don't understand what would make a simple roof section so expensive. I'd like to have one because it looks better than the soft top, but at that price, I probably won't bother...
I have one to sell $1500 almost new brand new they are about $2500. its yellow for the elise.
Hard tops tipically sell here in the classifieds section for $1000.00 US. You can wait for the right color to pop up or usually people will buy one any color and have it painted. They come up all the time here, but they usually go fast!
