Hi All

I am new here so Hi!
Just put down a deposit on Dec2010 NA Evora to replace my Elise S1 I have owned for the last 14 years.

It is a Laser Blue Sport/Tech, Reversing camera car with 2012 Pioneer Nav unit.
I am very excited.

I am in the UK :UK: but find myself in SoCal a fair bit with work - it was the Persian Blue one at the Irvine dealership which finally convinced me. But is is a rare color in the UK and exaclty the same color as my Elise so a slight change seemed fair.

I have a penchant for rareish cars and my previous ones can be seen here:
Spunagain's Fleet page

I am thinking about upgrades already and have planned:
-Radium CAI
-Decat 3rd cat
-Front splitter protector.

I will add pics once I pick it up on the 21st April.

I seem to remember reading somewhere about the possibility of getting the power fold mirrors to work (when not an option) by changing the switch pack in the door, but can't for the life of me find a thread on it - did I imagine it? - can anybody help? Garages are much smaller in the UK (well mine is!).
Look forwards to chatting.

Regards
Spunagain

Welcome!

I have not heard that anyone has actually tried the switch change, but it appears that it would work given that there is only one kind of mirror fitted to the Evora. Though that clue in the parts book made me wonder, I've never been tempted to try it, because I can't see myself ever using the power fold feature. Garages are much larger in the US than in the UK. :D But if you give it a shot, let us know!

By the way, the UK board is much better for discussion of technical mods-- that forum has a lot more wrench savvy than this one does.

Congrats on the new car, and don't forget to post some photos when you bring it home!

Congrats, Phil and welcome!

I saw that very one at Newport European. It is a stunning car and the only Persian Blue I've seen ever.

Anyway, are powered mirrors popular in the UK?

Hi Guys
Thanks for the welcome!

I'll try the other guys! I think in general power mirrors are a gimmick, but my Elise is a pretty tight squeeze into my garage so I suspect I may have to fold the mirrors to get the Evora in - and I am fundamentally lazy.

Great to hear. From a U.S. Ford product? Do you have a part #/source?
I am probably one of the few in the U.S. that would really like to have power fold mirrors since I keep my car in a space under a 4-post garage lift that is too tight to pull into with the mirrors "out."

What an incredible coincidence. I had my eye on that exact same car. I was taking delivery of my solar yellow when I noticed the Persian Blue with the oyster interior sitting outside. Abe said that the car just came in the day before. I was asking a lot of questions as they were loading my SY onto the trailer. I think I made Abe nervous thinking that I might change my mind and buy the blue one instead. :p

Ok.. Call me thick but what are we talking about here? Are you saying with that part that we can have our existing mirrors fold in? Is this like the cruse control that you just purchase the buttons for the wheel? Is this a MY12+ thing and will it work on my 10LE?

Install the folding-mirror switch and your existing mirrors miraculously convert to folding mirrors. JAWS gave you the part number. Should work for any Evora.

Good luck!

Lotus couldn't just spend an extra 50 cents to give us the switch that utilizes the function? ...

You pop the old switch out (use screwdriver), unplug it - then plug new switch in.
wouldn't you need a ECU flash like on the cruise control install. I think it unusally to place the motors in the mirrors and just not put a switch in. would seem like a big waste on Lotus's part:sad:

No ECU reflash required. And why is it a waste on Lotus' part? - quite the contrary it's an option, you either pay for it or you don't.
