Hello from another SoCal lurker

I figured I should say hello. I've been a long time lurker here. Bought an '08 S240 last year. It was previous owner's daily driver so it has a fair amount of miles on it and by no means perfect. But, it's perfect for a budget minded wanna be weekend racer like me; I won't have to worry about that first scratch on the car. LOL

So far I've got gPan3 and xp10 pads. I just wanted to start with some basics and see where to go from there. No track time on this car yet. I'm hoping to find some time for a track day soon...

So... who in SoCal is the go to guy for some track prep advise for the s240?

BTW, any recommendation on where to get a detail and minor star shield repair work?

Also, those that do track their car often, what do you do to prevent rock chips other than just taping it. Plastidip a viable solution? When I used to track my Nissan 240sx I didn't care much, but I feel like I should take care of the Exige a little better. It's never going to be a showroom condition or a garage queen, but I'd like it to be somewhat presentable.

hey Sek, hopefully if you're around on thursday you can make it to the K&F meet in lakewood. Details are in the socal forums.

As far as track prep, i think you're on the right track. baffled oil pan, toe links (although I believe your car has the track bar), fuel surge tank for fuel starvation issues. Adjust your suspension and alignment and you're probably good to go.

Hmm... Weekdays are pretty tough for me.

Yeah, '08 has the toe link brace(confirmed by Shinoo @ Sector111). How big of an issue is the fuel tank on our cars for local tracks?(Willow Springs, Buttonwillow, Auto-club speedway, etc...) I'm considering it, but need to prioritize.

I'm thinking a set of spare rims/tires next. Something inexpensive that can take some abuse on the track. Maybe Rota Slipstreams if I can find a set at a reasonable price.
Welcome and congratulations! How about some pics?
Welcome to the furom!
What part of SoCal?
Thanks. I'm in south orange county.

You are near the most active Lotus forum members.
Now that is SWEET!
ok, well its too bad, if you end up having time feel free to drop by.

We had a local member who had the same car, he had some fuel starvation issues on stock A048 tires in long sweepers. I'm no authority on the subject but i think its a really bad thing for FI cars, might be something you can look into if you have slicks.
Hey Welcome (I'm new around here too) but just a FYI, there is a Cars and Coffee meet coming up this Saturday. Look for detail in the meets section and hopefully there will be quite a few LT members as this will be my first meet.

Ken

P.s. I still have my old 300zx TT and I will be doing a track day with the Z a few Z guys in march at chuckwalla. I may still take the Lotus as i need new turbos in the Z.. but the plan is to track the Z.. Extreme speed is the organizer and its cheap ($120 with timing?)

Thanks. Camera does a good job of hiding imperfection. Lol

Sure. I'll drop by if I get a chance.

Hmmm. Sounds like I need to research the fuel starvation issue. My understanding is that it's an issue on long left sweeper.

Cool. I'll have to check out C&C.

Have you tracked with Extreme Speed much? How do you like them? 120 is very reasonable.

I have done a few track days with them with my Z. They are as good as speed ventures for about half price. You get a lot of guys in each run group and there are always idiots that won't let you by but its a fun way to blow a weekend.

I also need to get a oil pan and surge tank. I think the oil pan is more critical but you would need to ask the track rats here on LT as I'm still new.

If all goes according to plan, I should be tracking my Exige next year. I'll keep the Z till then and turn it in for a SC..

OK cool. I'll have to try them out.

Yeah, I got the gpan3. I need to look into the baffled fuel tank next.

Welcome to the forum! Sek - we're having a large Lotus get together at cars and coffee this Saturday. Short notice, but would be a great time to meet a bunch of us from OC and meet the gang. Details here - http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f96/anyone-so-cal-want-meet-up-month-196578/
Hey Chris2pher,

I'll try to make it out to C&C on Sat. But, dang! It's too damn early for Saturday man.
