Hi everyone! While searching for a Lotus to buy I came across this site. I actually currently own a 5th Gen Camaro and frequent the camaro5 forums, so finding a similar community for Lotus is pretty cool.

Anyways... on to the topic.

I found a 2010 Evora at a dealership in Quincy, Illinois that I might be interested in. I live near Cleveland, Ohio though so I can't exactly go check it out and test drive it. Even if I could, I'm not 100% confident I would know what to look for. I tried contacting a few nationwide companies that do used car inspections, but they didn't exactly inspire confidence that they would know what to look for either.

Anyone have a suggestion of how to proceed? Or anyone in that area that would check it out for me? All help is greatly appreciated, and hopefully soon I'll be a new Lotus owner and active forum member!

Quick Google shows:

1. No reported accidents.
2. Car went into auction with 29,051 miles, has changed dealer hands a couple times and the new mileage reflects that it probably is being use as a demo car.
3. Photos (current and previous dealer) show clean car with typical wear (seat edges).
4. Has SPORTS, TECH, and PREMIUM package.
5. Rothrock Chevrolet, Springfield, PA - Original Dealer
6. Sold with 6,338 Miles on 1/22/2011 (must have been dealer demo car)
7. Single Owner sold it on 1/20/2013 (still in Pennsylvania)
8. Sold in dealer auction on 4/1/2013 with 29,051 miles to Dene Lambkin Honda, Quincy, IL
9. 05/17/2013 - Moved with 30,477 miles to Bentley St. Louis, Chesterfield, MO
10. 7/25/2013 Vehicle Services by Bentley St. Louis
- Clutch master cylinder replaced
- A/C condenser replaced
11. Moved to current dealer 4/2/2014

Of note is that it probably saw some rough dealer demo driving but that now it has a brand new clutch master cylinder as a result. The A/C condenser being replaced "happened" to some earlier cars so it doesn't indicate anything.

Yeah I called them and apparently that price is wrong. It's currently priced at $45,488.
Still overpriced at that?

Buy a R/T ticket, test drive it, fly back, make your final decision. What's your peace of mind worth, $200/300?

I know some people up in Quincy. A Doctor that used to work in my office practices there now. I can see if she or her husband can check it out. They will not know much about the feel, but they can tell you about the cosmetics and running condition. I'm about 2 (maybe 3) hours away myself.

Sent my friend up to take a test drive of the car. She said she will call me in the next couple of days and tell me the verdict.
special attention to wheels body and interior finishes.
Told her to drive it like it is meant to be driven making sure clutch feel is good.
Wish I could go up and flog it for you to give you a better feel for condition, but I will not be able to get up that way for a couple of weeks.
Since the car is at a Hyundai dealership I doubt if you will get much useful info from the dealer.

My friend checked out the car and liked it, sooooo.........
She bought it for herself -eek-
No just kidding
She liked the car but did notice some blemishes
some scratches on rims and a chip in the front splitter

She said it drove well but noticed a slight vibration around 80mph which smoothed out at 100mph (-eek- I know, right. she did give it a bit of a flogging)

She thought the tires were a bit worn which would cause the vibration at speed.

In her defense she never drove my car (she drive a Scion) so not real points of comparison for her.

She said she had a blast and thanked me :UK:
