I have a 2002 S2 Elise and have a waterpump leak so am doing the timing belt while I do it. I have done plenty of timing belts on my other cars over the year but I can lock the crank pulley on the rover engine. For some reason I cant lock the crank by putting the car i gear and having the handbrake on like on most other cars I have done (can feel the diff slipping but the car drives fine). I can't get an impact gun on the pulley bolt due to the location of the subframe but I am going to have to torque up the bolt anyway on re-assembly so really that wouldn't be a big help either.

Any idea on how to lock the crank???
