HELP: What is this wire doing here?

So I was replacing my dampers tonight with some new Nitrons and while I was working on the passenger side front wheel I noticed that there was a wire hanging out from somewhere inside the front clam. It looks to me like it's a thermocouple, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know what this is, or where it's supposed to be?

Thanks in advance for the help. I've tried to look at parts diagrams and I've searched the forums for info on thermocouples, but I haven't been able to figure it out.
