I just bought a new set of RE-01Rs from TR. I'm a little nervous about letting just anyone put them on. Can anyone recommend a good shop in the NJ/NYC area that would take good care when installing?

Don't need another Elise falling off a rack :panic:

It may be a bit far for you, but I have been using Al's Hubcaps in Mineola, NY (on Long Island, about 45 mins from Hoboken with "some" traffic) on my Range Rover and M3, and could not be happier.

The prices are "fair," but the work is top-notch (they re-finished a set of BBS RS-GTs for me), and the last time I was there having TPMS Sensors installed on new rims for my Rover, the owner was spending hours on the phone (himself) getting information for re-boring a set of M6 Rims so that they will fitt a DB7 Aston Martin, and checking the Torque Specs for the Lugs (which were not available on-line, so he was speaking to a US Aston Martin Area Rep).

That's not too too far (For all my other work I go down to Sport and Specialist in Hopewell which is even further)

Thanks very much :)

Honestly, I don't know why you're worried about this as long as they use the right lift. I got my 1st set of tires swapped at a Mavis Discount Tire and it was fine. Second time I brought it to Erick and Jorge and they used the wheel/alignment shop next door which gets a lot of their Lotus clientele.

As long as they use the right equipment, it isn't an issue!

I was just concerned after hearing horror stories of off-lift experiences and hacked up rims.

When you say "the right lift"...what would I be looking for exactly? I was just going to ask them to use jacks and do 1 side at a time, but it sounds like maybe that's overkill

I brought a picture of the "LIFT FAIL" with me. Showed it to the shop and then told them to only use a jack.

No problems.

I don't know, when you have to bring the Mechanic a "warning photo" as a way to make sure that the car is being properly serviced, it does not inspire confidence.

However, I think I'll try your approach next time I bring my Lotus in, and show them this picture:

Hey, does anyone remember how much Euro Tire charges per tire for mounting and balancing? I just got a quote for R888's (they didn't break it down), but want a total of $1020. I can get the tires alone for $740, so it seams like they're charging me $70 to mount, balance, and install each tire. I'm willing to jack my car up and take tires and wheels to a place for them to just put them on, but last time I did that, Sears charged me about $45 per wheel since I didn't buy the tires from them. Any ideas on places to take tires in NJ?
