Yah, I know. Another tire thread. But I really don't know much about tire sizing and tire rack has been absolutely no help at all. 2005 Elise with LSS wheels currently running Advans 048s. I have over 10,000 miles on them with 4 track days and in absolute need of new rubber. Currently have 195-50R16s 84W LTS Advan 048s on the front and 255-45R 17 90W LTS Advan 048s on the rear. I would like to change to R888s all the way around BUT Tire Rack says they don't have them in those sizes and cant recommend what size R888s to go to. Can anybody help me out on this? I like the current size bias between front and back and just don't know what size to go with on the R888s. I am in dire need of new tires and just don't know what to order. If it matters I am also running Nitron Singles all the way around and have upgraded sway bars and suspension. Thanks for any help!

I happily run the stock sizes for LSS with R888s all the way around. 195/50-16 Front and 225/45-17 rear. I suppose it's personal preference, but I like how the car rotates with those sizes. I would think it would push too much with wider tires in the rear.

If you're asking for opinion: that's mine - 195/50-16 Front and 225/45-17 rear. Tire rack has these in stock at the moment.

I use toyo R888 -> 195/50-16 front and 225/45-17 rear

Tirerack actually recommends them as one of the default combos for the sportpack rims. It is about 50% cheaper than yokohamas although you loose a tiny bit of grip. I normally go through 2 sets of rears for each set of fronts. I also flip the tires on the rim to get even wear. Modulo rain, the R888s are good until there is no thread left. If you drive mostly street, you can get other tires that are cheaper or last longer but have less grip.

Are you sure you have the LTS yokohamas in 255? I thought the LTS only comes in 225/45-17. You can get non-LTS in 255.

2006 Elise

I experimented with 245/40/17 in the rear (togo R888), but
found no advantage so reverted to the stock sized 225/45/17.
These were on RAC monolites.
Very happy again!

I have been running an RA-1 in 255/40R17 on the rear stock wheel w/3mm spacer. I always ran 195 R1R on the front to evacuate water cuz I run this on the street as well as track. Just got a 195 R888 for the front for track. I kinda think R888 and RA1 are same compound, different tread. With the R1R on the front, the car pushed in some really tight slow turns and limited my speed in some high speed sweepers. I expect the balance with the new R front and rear in a 255 / 195 ratio will be very neutral. Won't test them til April though.
